The hunter course is closed to everyone until Saturday morning warm-ups. Any horse and/or person jumping any fence prior to the Saturday morning warm-up will be escorted out of the ring, disqualified and prohibited from exhibiting in any over fence class.

Personal Appointments: Riders 17 and under must wear an ASTM approved helmet with a harness when mounted. Riders 18 and over must wear an ASTM approved helmet with a harness when jumping. Helmet regulations will be enforced. Suitable blouse or shirts to be worn under hunt jacket. Removal of jackets is at the discretion of the judge. Breeches or jodhpurs, riding boot with heel are required. Chaps are not allowed. Spurs are optional and must be of unrowelled type. Crops or bats are optional.

Tack: Hunt-type saddle, hunter-type headstall with appropriate nose cavesson. No discrimination against any standard English bit. Hackamore and/or bosals are prohibited. A chain chinstrap must be of standard flat variety. Judge may ask for removal/alteration of any bit deemed unfair/inhumane. Breastplate or cruppers are optional. Standing martingales are allowed in over fence classes only. Draw reins and/or dropped nosebands are prohibited. Bandages and/or boots on horse's legs are permitted in equitation classes only.

Elimination: The following will result in elimination: unsoundness of horse, jumping an obstacle before it is reset, bolting from the ring, off course, fall of horse or rider, or three refusals.

1st Year Green Horse Hunter on the Flat: Open to horses and ponies in their first year of showing as a Hunter.  May show Hunter in other division/classes as applicable.  Beginner riders may not show in Green Horse classes.

Hunter Over Fence Divisions

Beginner Hunt Seat Division: A Walk-Trot-Canter division that is open to riders of any age in their first or second year of jumping, and who have not jumped over 18”.  Beginner riders may not show in Green Horse classes.  Riders may not cross enter into any other class in an over fences division with the exception of Short Stirrup or Medium/Long Stirrup (if the rider is eligible).  Riders are eligible for any other in-hand divisions or under saddle divisions.

Short Stirrup Division: A Walk-Trot-Canter division that is open to riders 12 years and under, who have not competed in any class that requires jumping over 18”.  Riders may not cross enter into any other class in an over fences division with the exception of Beginner Hunt Seat (if the rider is eligible).  Riders are eligible for any other in-hand divisions or under saddle divisions.

Medium/Long Stirrup Division: A Walk-Trot-Canter division that is open to riders 13 years and over, who have not competed in any class that requires jumping over 2’0”. Riders may not cross enter into any other class in an over fences division.  Riders are eligible for any other in-hand divisions or under saddle divisions.  Riders who win the TSHA Year End Championship twice in this division are no longer eligible to compete in this division.
